News Bit: Layers of Fears is a Remake, not a Sequel

Layers of Fears was announced that the 2022 Summer Game Fest and confirmed to be the game that developer Bloober Team had to show off. While the developer is also rumoured to be working on a new Silent Hill game, there were no comments about this during the event. The announcement trailer for Layers of Fears isn't a brand new game in the series, it's actually a reboot. The name isn't a typo either.

Layers of Fears is a remake and expanded version of the previously released games. It uses the basic components from Layers of Fear, Layers of Fear 2 and Layers of Fear: Inheritance but also has “an expanded plotline and gameplay direction”. This means the upcoming title is a little bit more than just a remake however, it comes with a new story chapter as well.

Bloober Team wanted to recreate the Layers of Fear series but they didn't just want to remaster the games. While it might be easy to mix up the names, Layers of Fears is an expanded remake of the previous titles in the series. It will release in 2023 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
