Technically, Gamescom 2021 doesn't begin until August 25th with the Opening Night event which will include new game reveals. Xbox didn't like this and decided to host their own event a day early instead.

Dying Light 2: Stay Human
Xbox kicked off the showcase with a new look into Dying Light 2 and to finally give us a look at the gameplay. The gameplay trailer reveals that fighting humans will play a bigger role in this game and that the world is in a “modern dark age” with makeshift medieval armour in use.
Microsoft Flight Simulator
It was announced that the Microsoft Flight Simulator will be getting its first competitive mode: multiplayer racing. Working in partnership with Reno Air Racing Association, they will be introducing the STIHL National Championship Air Races to the game where planes can reach over 500 mph. World Update 6 next month will also improve the graphics for some areas in Europe.
Age of Empires 4
A history lesson on trebuchets was not on anyone's mind coming into Gamecom but Age of Empires 4 had a little surprise for us all. The team worked with Lion TV to make an educational historical short video about trebuchets and it's been confirmed, there's plenty more content to come. Age of Empires 4 will have various historical videos such as medieval surgery, castle building, medieval living, period instruments and even how archers kept their flaming arrows on fire. Age of Empires 4 was confirmed to be included for the Gamescom 2021 Opening Night livestream.
Sea of Thieves
A free expansion has launched today! It's a Borderlands crossover event called Making Mayhem where players can earn a Borderlands-themed ship. This event will run until September 7th.
Wasteland 3
The next expansion was revealed during the showcase. The Cult of the Hole Detonation will send players to fight a strange cult in a “Wasteland-style dungeon crawler”. It will place more focus on completing objectives than normal and there's a range of new friendly characters included. This will be launching on October 5th.
State of Decay 2
A new free DLC is coming to State of Decay 2 for all owners to experience. The expansion includes a remastered version of Trumbull Valley, a lot more weapons, six new bases, more missions and some other extra content. The aptly named Homecoming DLC will be releasing on September 1st.
Stray Blade
A brand new game was revealed during the Xbox showcase. Stray Blade is an action-RPG where an adventurer and his “witty wolf” companion explore and fight enemies together. Information is pretty limited right now but this ironman melee combat game will be releasing in 2022.
Crusader Kings III
While Crusader Kings III is coming to Xbox, the game won't just be a port. It's been adapted for Xbox meaning that it will have a revamped UI that's supposed to make it feel like a native console game.
Psychonauts 2
The Psychonauts 2 launch trailer is here! It finally launches tomorrow on August 25th for Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PS4, PS5 and PC.
Forza Horizon 5
Quite a bit of news came from the Xbox Showcase and then the Forza Horizon 5: Let's Go! Stream afterwards. There's a new limited edition Forza Horizon 5 controller available to pre-order, we save a cover reveal and gameplay was included too.
Plus a new set of Indie games coming to Game Pass.
