Bethesda Announces QuakeCon 2021 Will Be Going Ahead

There was some concern about the future of QuakeCon after Bethesda was acquired by Microsoft, sparked by their combined E3 2021 conference. While it was assumed Bethesda would continue with their annual event considering the history behind it, some fans were a little worried.

Similar to last year, QuakeCon 2021 will be a digital event due to the ongoing pandemic. QuakeCon 2021 will take place from August 19th to the 21st.

What is QuakeCon?

Founded in 1996, QuakeCon is one of the most distinguished gaming festivals around. Originally created for Quake and Id Software, the event has become one of the biggest LAN parties in the world. Quake certainly plays a large role still but the festival has become Bethesda centric instead.

What can we expect from QuakeCon 2021?

QuakeCon typically includes presentations, LAN tournaments, panels, exhibits, sneak peeks of upcoming Bethesda games and new game announcements too. It's a major event for Bethesda and the 2020 digital event didn't disappoint either. During the 2020 event, we saw the Quake World Championship Grand Finals take place, a Doom Eternal panel, a Dishonored Tabletop RPG and more.

Ah, the good ole days?

There's no confirmation from Bethesda yet about what we can expect to see throughout the event. However, we can expect updates on existing games and it's thought that Bethesda will include a Starfield panel. Last year Bethesda also included various smaller shows during the event so we can expect to see more of this type next month.

Bethesda announced their line-up shortly before the 2020 event and they are expected to do the same this year. QuakeCon 2021 will be broadcasted on Twitch but it's currently unknown if it will be available on other platforms too.
