E3 2021 Day 1 Recap

It's official, the E3 season is upon us! There's lots of news to track and it's easy to miss the best stuff when the news is flying out so fast all over the internet. If you missed the livestreams and want to watch them in full then each one is available on YouTube. If you just want the E3 Day 1 highlights then we've got you covered there too.

Ubisoft

Rainbow Six Extraction

Ubisoft was quiet for a while but now they've announced Rainbow Six Extraction has a release date and provided us with actual gameplay too. Some of our favourite Operators will be featured in the game but playing missions comes with the risk of losing them to the aliens. Rainbow Six Extraction will release on September 16th.

Gameplay Deep Dive:

A new Rocksmith game!

It's not quite a huge announcement but the guitar teaching series is getting a new entry. Rocksmith+ allows you to use your phone to learn how to play the guitar without needing a dongle like with the previous game. This will be a subscription service and it's possible to register for the PC Closed Beta today.

Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope Confirmed

The game was leaked earlier today by Nintendo when the page accidentally went live too early on their website. It's a sequel to the first Mario + Rabbids game and looks pretty like how we all expected. Take a look at our article here for more information about the game.

Gameplay:

Far Cry 6 DLC will focus the Villains of Far Cry

Yup that' right! The Far Cry 6 DLC will allow you to experience the mind of some of the most iconic villains in the series. Plus it includes Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon as DLC.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is Revealed

Trailer:

Ubisoft revealed their Avatar game today. Frontiers of Pandora will release in 2022 and is a first-person action-adventure game. Details about it are still a bit limited but you can read all about it here.

Devolver Digital

VOD:

Devolver MaxPass+

The publisher announced a new Premium Subscription Service. It was announced to be “a completely free subscription service that offers the entire Devolver Digital catalog” for buyers to receive as “exclusive, premium purchases”. A very real service.

In all seriousness though, Devolver Digital did include some real games and trailers in between the glorious chaos.

Trek to Yomi

Trailer:

The trailer revealed an interesting game that's easy to forget it's 2D. It follows Hiroki the lone samurai as he fights to protect his town and loved ones. Trek to Yomi will launch in 2022.

Wizard with a Gun

Trailer:

It's about a wizard with a gun, in a sandbox survival game with a fantasy setting. The game looks like it was made by the Don't Starve developers but it wasn't. Launching in 2022 we can expect this interesting game PC and console in the future.

Inscryption

Trailer:

Inscryption looks like a rather unique game. It blends deckbuilding roguelike, escape-room puzzles and psychological horror to create a unique experience. The reveal trailer shows it to be a dark game that's oddly disturbing even before the horror aspects truly appear. Inscryption will release later this year for PC.

Demon Throttle

Trailer:

Devolver Digital showed off a new game they're publishing today that wouldn't look out of place on the Nintendo 64. Demon Throttle is a scrolling retro shooter with some bullet hell thrown in and a story we'd expect from an old school game. This game will only release as a physical box for Nintendo Switch... there will not be a digital version for sale.

Shadow Warrior 3

Trailer:

A new trailer for Shadow Warrior 3 was shown at the event, surprising watchers with the Doom Eternal-Esque mechanics. This will release later this year for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

Phantom Abyss

Trailer:

It looks like a strange combination of Immortal Redneck, Temple Run and Indiana Jones. Phantom Abyss will be hitting Steam Early Access on June 22nd,

Gearbox Entertainment

VOD:

Homeworld 3 Confirmed

Gearbox confirmed that Homeworld 3 is in production and it's not a prequel or remaster! There was no trailer to show but it's still good news.

Godfall for PS4

It will be getting coss-gen play and will finally be getting a PS4 release on August 10th along with a free PS5 upgrade. A new DLC was also announced for it.

Tiny Tina's Wonderlands

Presentation:

The presentation didn't offer much additional news. At least the trailer confirms we'll be able to fight Wyverns.
