Sony is joining the Blockchain Party

More companies are trying to enter the blockchain party and it looks like Sony is the latest one to be added to the guest list. A patent published earlier this month reveals the company is looking to create a system to track NFTs within a game.

Sony's new patent explains that this is for something called “Tracking Unique In-Game Digital Assetsassets Using Tokens on a Distributed Ledger”. This is a system that would allow Sony to track the creation, use, modification and trading of digital assets for games. It specifically mentions assets made within games and assets based on gameplay. The patent explains that this software can be used to track specific digital assets owned by skilled players and popular content creators. It looks like Sony wants to allow gamers to track the lifecycle of digital assets which would allow players to confirm an in-game item was used “to win a famous tournament”
