6 Video Game Franchises That Need a Reboot ASAP

Attention all gamers! Are you tired of playing the same old video games that lack excitement and creativity? Well, fear not because we have compiled a list of six video game franchises that desperately need a reboot. From classic titles like Banjo Kazooie to more niche favourites such as Rogue Galaxy, these games are in dire need of an upgrade. So, sit back and prepare for some serious nostalgia as we dive into the top six video game franchises that require a reboot ASAP.

6. Banjo Kazooie

Banjo Kazooie was a fan favourite during the late 90s and early 2000s. The game follows Banjo, a bear, and his bird partner, Kazooie as they explore various worlds to stop the evil witch named Gruntilda. With its colourful graphics, catchy soundtrack, and playful characters, this platformer game quickly became a hit. However, despite the success of Banjo-Kazooie's initial release on Nintendo 64 in 1998, subsequent releases were not received well by fans. Its first sequel "Banjo-Tooie" released in 2000 was met with mixed reviews while its third instalment "Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts" released in 2008 failed to capture the magic of its predecessors.

With modern gaming technology at developers' disposal today, it is high time for a reboot that can recapture what made Banjo Kazooie so special. A new adventure featuring our beloved bear-bird duo could introduce them to an entirely new generation of gamers while also rekindling nostalgia for older players. A revival could include more expansive levels filled with puzzles and challenges that require players to use both their platforming skills and wit. Additionally, updated mechanics like smoother controls and improved camera angles would be welcomed upgrades from previous games. There is no denying that bringing back Banjo Kazooie would be an exciting prospect for fans old and new alike!

5. De Blob

De Blob is a game that first hit the scene back in 2008, and it's been quite some time since we've seen anything new from this franchise. The game was well-received by critics and fans alike, but unfortunately, it never really took off in the way that many had hoped. For those who may not be familiar with De Blob, the game centres around a world where colour has been drained away. Players take on the role of a colourful blob who must restore colour to the world by painting everything they come across. It's a fun and unique concept that could definitely benefit from an updated reboot.

One potential reason why De Blob didn't quite reach its full potential is because it was released during a time when there were so many other games vying for attention. Now, however, things are different - gaming has become even more mainstream than ever before! A reboot of De Blob would provide an opportunity to introduce this beloved title to a new generation of gamers while also giving long-time fans something fresh and exciting to sink their teeth into. With updated graphics, improved gameplay mechanics, and additional features like multiplayer modes or online leaderboards - there's no telling just how successful this reboot could be!

4. Grim Fandango

Grim Fandango is a classic video game franchise that absolutely deserves a reboot. This adventure game was developed by LucasArts and released in 1998 for PC and PlayStation and later released on Xbox consoles. The game follows the story of Manny Calavera, a travel agent working at the Department of Death in the Land of Dead who uncovers corruption within his workplace. One of the standout features of Grim Fandango is its unique art style inspired by Mexican Day of the Dead culture. The characters are all skeletal figures with exaggerated facial features and vibrant clothing which makes them memorable and visually appealing.

The gameplay involves puzzle-solving, exploration, dialogue trees, and some action sequences. Players must navigate through various areas to complete objectives while interacting with other characters to progress through the story. Although Grim Fandango received critical acclaim upon release, it suffered from poor sales due to limited advertising at launch. A reboot could introduce this beloved franchise to new audiences while also improving on some outdated mechanics from the original game. Grim Fandango has left an indelible mark on gaming history as one of the best adventure games ever made. With today's technology advancing rapidly year after year - we can only imagine what kind of amazing things they could do should they decide to revive this classic franchise!

3. Guitar Hero

Remember the good old days of playing Guitar Hero with your friends and pretending to be a rockstar? Well, it's been over a decade since the last release of this iconic music game franchise. And let's face it, we could all use another round of jamming out to some classic tunes. The original Guitar Hero games were incredibly popular, selling millions of copies worldwide and spawning countless spin-off titles. However, after 2010's Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock failed to meet sales expectations, the series went on an indefinite hiatus.

But now is the time for a reboot! With advancements in technology that can create even more realistic guitar-playing experiences combined with modern-day hits and classics from every era should revive this franchise once again. Imagine being able to play along with your favourite songs using virtual reality headsets or motion capture technology. Or better yet - bring back those plastic guitars that made us feel like real-life shredders! It's time for Activision to dust off their guitar-shaped controllers and give us one more chance at becoming legendary rockstars.

2. Prince of Persia

Prince of Persia is a classic video game franchise that dates back to the late 1980s. The series has gone through many iterations over the years, but it's been quite some time since we've seen a new entry in the franchise. A reboot would be a great opportunity for Ubisoft to bring fresh ideas and modern gameplay mechanics to this iconic series. The Prince of Persia games have always featured incredible platforming and acrobatic gameplay, as well as engaging stories filled with twists and turns. With today's technology, a reboot could take those elements to new heights by introducing stunning graphics and immersive worlds.

It would also be exciting to see how Ubisoft would approach combat in a new Prince of Persia game. Would they stick with the swordplay mechanics from previous entries or try something completely different? Whatever they choose, there's no doubt that fans of the franchise are eager for more. Bringing back Prince of Persia would not only satisfy longtime fans but also introduce newer generations to one of gaming's most beloved franchises.

1. Rogue Galaxy

As we've seen in the previous sections of this article, Banjo Kazooie, De Blob, Grim Fandango, Guitar Hero and Prince of Persia all have the potential for incredible comebacks with modern technology. However, our number one pick for a franchise that needs a reboot ASAP is Rogue Galaxy.

Released in 2005 on PlayStation 2 by Level-5 Studios - developers behind games like Ni no Kuni and Professor Layton - Rogue Galaxy offered players an immersive sci-fi RPG experience with unique gameplay mechanics such as weapon synthesis and space exploration. Despite its critical acclaim at launch and cult following over the years due to its interesting storylines and characters development, the game never received any sequels or remakes since then.

The world-building done by Level-5 was impressive; every planet you visited had its own culture, inhabitants and objectives that made it stand out from other planets. Fans of Mass Effect or Star Wars would find themselves right at home exploring each corner of Rogue Galaxy's universe.

With new technology advancements available now allowing better graphics design capabilities and storytelling methods than ever before combined with powerful consoles like PS5 & Xbox Series X capable enough to handle complex open worlds without lag time issues even during intense battles which makes us believe they can do justice by reviving this franchise once again!

There you have it, six video game franchises that are in dire need of a reboot. From the classic platformer Banjo Kazooie to the space-faring RPG Rogue Galaxy, these games all hold a special place in the hearts of gamers and deserve another chance to shine.

If you have additional games you think should make the list, leave them in the comments below.
