Resident Evil 4 VR Remake, All you need to Know

Updated: Apr 28, 2021

An exciting year so far for Resident Evil fans as Resident Evil Village and Resident Evil 4 VR Remake are scheduled to launch this year. In today’s article, we will focus on the fan-favourite RE 4 Remake in VR.

Resident Evil 4 is one of the best horror games of all time and is now coming to VR. You will now play as Leon in first-person perspective via the Oculus Quest 2. The VR will let you interact in the horror setting in a fundamentally new way from how you’ve experience it before. The critically acclaimed game has been ported previously from it's original release on GameCube to PS2, Wii, Xbox 360, PS3, PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Since its release, the game has sold a whopping 10.6 million units across all the above-mentioned platforms.

(This, but up close...)

Despite RE 4 porting to VR and getting an overhaul, it won’t tinker with some of the original aspects of the game. The original features that made the game popular like the character animations and cut scenes won’t get modifications at all. Some may deem it a good move while for others it is a bit of a disappointment with many anticipating a RE2 style remake of the game.

However, developers have reiterated that they have added improvements to 4500 textures in the game which will make it look even better.

Moreover, Oculus Quest 2 will allow interactive physical items like treasures, keys, and ammo creating a highly immersive experience. Spatial audio has also been added in to the game which will help players to know where the next zombie is coming from.

To get around players will have room-scale, and teleportation, in layman terms, players will have the option to use an analogue stick or teleport to minimize motion sickness. The game will also serve as a remaster, now using Unreal Engine 4.

Capcom confirmed that Resident Evil 4 VR will release on Oculus Quest 2 this year. However, while there isn’t an official date at present, it is scheduled for later in 2021.

Pick up your own Oculus Quest 2 now to enjoy Resident Evil 4 VR when it comes out.
