Dead Space 3 or New Dragon Age, Maybe Both!

EA will reportedly announce the revival of an established IP for EA Play 2021

It's been quietly teased that EA has a new game to announce during their EA Play 2021 event next month. GamesBeat journalist Jeff Grubb was in a post-E3 stream where he commented that an unannounced EA title will be shown publicly for the first time on July 22nd.

Grubb has made various comments about this in the past including in another video here. During this video, Grubb stated that EA's Motive Studio was working on the revival of an “established IP” without giving much away but adding “I think you'll be happy”. After the Nintendo E3 2021 Direct, he also posted another video to his YouTube channel including a very small but telling teaser “we're going to see it... if we're not dead first”.

Watch Jeff Grubb's Game Mess post E3 show here:

Who is Motive Studios?

Motive Studios has previously worked on Star Wars: Battlefront II and Star Wars: Squadrons. The company is still new and was founded in 2015 but we know that Motive focuses on action-adventure games.

Previously, Motive was working on something known as “Gaia” which was cancelled earlier this year. The project was a new IP and was cancelled after a “turbulent” development that had received at least one “major reboot”. So, Project Gaia is not the established IP revival being revealed next month.

Is it a new Dead Space?

The teaser dropped by Grubb sounds like this could finally be a new Dead Space game coming soon. The last game was released in 2013 so it's overdue for a new game. There's no way to know for sure it's a new Dead Space game but we can probably expect leaks before the big event in July.

It's NecroMorphin' time!

Could it be Dragon Age?

It sounds unlikely but PlayStation Game Size recently posted on Twitter that they've found a Dragon Age IV Alpha file. The Twitter account is known for trawling the PlayStation Store database to hunt for new listings and lately, they've found quite a bit for new EA games including plenty of FIFA 22 information.

According to that user, it looks like a test version of Dragon Age IV is coming to the PlayStation Store. The files suggest the 'Alpha' will be coming ahead of the EA Play event.

So it sounds like a new Dragon Age is coming very soon if testing is starting on the PlayStation console. Though it seems more likely that the established IP reveal will be Dead Space for EA Play 2021 on July 22nd but we'll have to wait for more news closer to the event.
